Challenging

Adara has been... shall we say challenging the last few days. Big screaming fits, refusing to do things, asking for things then throwing them at you when you give them to her. Three days of this now. Last night after battling with her for an hour to get an extraordinarily dirty baby into the bath tub, I just started crying. She stopped crying, brought her naked, very dirty self over to me, patted her chest and said" Me baby". Patted my chest and said "You mamma, no crying" and smiled. I'm not sure if the message really meant 'Mammas don't cry" but I'm choosing to take it as more of " I love you, so don't cry". It's a better message for me, and the angelic smile suggests that that's what it meant. She then spent the next 20 minutes telling me "baby jokes' which mostly consist of pretending to hiccup, burp and fart to cheer me up. A sweet effort but there's was still no way in *&$^* that she was getting in the bathtub, tears or no tears!

Hello...

Hello... Sorry I've been gone so long. Len and I have been away doing shows in montreal and I was away at the PACT conference, also in Montreal. The PACT conference is when all of the theatres from across Canada get together to talk about the year gone by and discuss best practices, and see shows and drink. It's like summer camp for theatre professionals... highly enjoyable!
The gig was slightly less enjoyable, but nevertheless...
Adara spent some time with Grammy and Poppa and it sounds like much fun was had by all. Liam came and pulled Adara around their back yard in a big wagon, then she pulled him, then they threw water at each other. Essentially, the ideal kid day. Also, from the requests for "I ceam (ice cream)" since we've returned, I'd say much spoiling was done! :)

After the challenging (ah euphemisms!) gig in Montreal, Len and I stayed an extra day in order to visit with friends (Hello Anne, Luke and Amelia!) who haven't been seen for a decade and to have some time to ourselves. We slept in, went clothing shopping ( a suprisingly rare treat), had sangria and antipasto on a patio with friends and then had a gorgeous dinner.
And then, alas, hauling butt back to TO where we have to do this gig all over again. Oh yes, and in the midst of all of this, I closed a show for my regular job and opened a show with a company coming in from oversees.
Busy times, sorry for the blog silence!
